Welcome to South Carolina Joint Replacement headed by Dr. Thomas P. Gross. Dr. Gross attended medical school and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Johns Hopkins University. Thereafter he completed a fellowship in Joint replacement surgery with an emphasis on the use of custom implants. Over his career, Dr. Gross has become one of the national leaders in the development of metal on metal hip resurfacing surgery. This procedure is particularly suited for young, active patients and avoids bone loss associated with standard hip replacement surgery.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gross continues to be recognized as a leading hip resurfacing surgeon. In 2007, he won an award for his work at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. In 2001 he pioneered a technique for minimally-invasive total hip replacement using a 4 inch incision that, in most cases, only requires an overnight hospital stay.  Dr. Gross is visited by doctors from all over the United State, Canada, South America and Europe in order that they may learn more about his techniques and use of implants in both hip and knee replacement surgery.
